Freight, pickup and fitting

How parts get to you, what the big items cost to move, and what we can and cannot fit for you.

Picking it up yourself

Cheapest and quickest. Ring first so we can have the part off and waiting, especially if it is still on the vehicle. Bring something to carry it in: panels and glass need more room than people expect, and a windscreen will not go in a hatchback.

Courier, for anything that fits in a box

Small and medium parts go out same day if we have them off the vehicle and you have paid before the courier run. Most of the South Island is next day, the North Island a day after that. Rural addresses take an extra day.

Freight, for the big things

Engines, gearboxes, diffs, panels, doors, tailgates, decks and glass go on a pallet or a crate. It costs more and it takes longer, and the price depends on where you are, so we quote it before you commit rather than after.

Two things worth knowing:

  • Glass travels badly. We crate it, and we will tell you honestly if we think a windscreen is not worth the risk of the trip.
  • An engine needs a way off the truck at your end. A forklift or a hoist. The driver will not lift it for you.

Check it before you sign

Look the pallet over while the driver is still there. If something has been damaged in transit, note it before you sign for it. After that it is a much harder conversation with the freight company.

Fitting

We are a wrecking yard, not a workshop, so we do not fit parts to your vehicle. What we will do is get the part ready: pull it while you wait where we can, transfer a lock barrel to your key, and tell you what else you will need for the job so you are not back here the next day for a bolt.

If you need someone to fit it, ask us. We know who is good locally for which kind of job.

Not sure how this applies to you

Tell us your vehicle and how you plan to use the vehicle, and we will tell you honestly what suits. No pressure either way.
